Help cant view picturesfor some reason

im on about in the normal windows vista viewer

"this picture cant be displayed. might not have enough memory, close programs or free some space"

ive got 31.5gb and 12.5gb free on the harddrive, think its only raw files but ive downloaded the raw plugin things ages ago.

could this be because its a new camera so will need a new plugin , if that makes sense
 
Quite possibly - are you talking about the thumbnails or the actual files? IIRC, the RAW plugin for windows will only show you the thumbnails, so to open the actual RAW files you'll need some specific software - there should be a CD with the camera which will allow you to open them.

What are you using to open them?
 
just opening up file can see thumbnail but when i double clikc i get that error

think i need to put the cd in that came with the camera , presumed i would need to as its a d90 instead of a d40


ill have a go at that now, thank you it was driving me insane lol
 
right well that has worked, but now i cannot open them in photoshop :(

You need the right version of Camera Raw (I think it's 4.6) that supports the D90 - but be aware, the version of CR you need may not work with your version of PS, depending on what you have.
 
Hi Liss what did you do, I'm having the same problems?
 
make sure you have the camera software on , also you need to make sure you have the correct camera raw update for photoshop, Make sure your camera model is in the list . Depending on camera you may need cs4 instead of cs3
 
Thanks liss, I've just upgraded to the D90 so can't afford to upgrade photoshop, but it looks like I'm saved by Piccasa as it can veiw and edit them fine, just obviously not to the same standard as photoshop.
