Hi,
I've just recalibrated my monitor with Spyder3 Elite using the normal wizard thing and it has not done a good job at all.
Before calibration my monitor seemed pretty much spot on, as prints from various places came out almost nearly what I saw except maybe a couple of shadow areas sometimes suffering but not too much.
However, getting it 100% correct was of paramount importance, so did it all yesterday and now my screen is really really dark - any bodies photos i look at, if theres a shadow area its just pure black. Even people's like Joe Cornish's images, so its not a case of looking at another persons photo that has been edited on a uncalibrated monitor.

In the blacks where the shades of black stop is square number 25....before calibration I had no issues what so ever viewing all of the squares!! The whites are somewhat better now though and I can see nearly all the squares where as before only the first 4 or 5.
Colours seem very unnatural now too - like Facebook isnt that vivid striking blue but now more of a deep sea blue. Google chrome doesn't look right, basically nothing does.
I calibrated in complete darkness, with overhead lights and in day light and none of these methods has solved the issue.
What is also funny to note - on the bit where it shows you an image before and after calibration, the image before looks miles better with loads more detail.
I use Windows 7 professional 64bit on a Toshiba Satellite A300-1BZ
To note I had a few issues getting the calibration tool to work in Windows 7 initially, which involved an uninstall of the whole program and drivers then making sure all files were deleted but this seemed to fix it.
I used all the default settings in Spyder3 that the Wizard suggested.
I really don't know where to go now? I fear I have lost my old calibration (or does a format solve it??) and won't get good prints from now on!
Any help appreciated.
James
