Hi

I'm thinking of a black & white photo of a guy (mechanic - maybe french or american???) carrying a couple of tyres...possibly dates from 40/50s. The mechanic may be smoking. The picture is often in those poster/art type shops and in coffee table history of photography books

Can anyone think which picture it is?

We were talking in work about it today, no-one could remember who took it, or could find copy using google.

If I can't remember the photographer's name I'll never sleep tonight.

:)

Further investigation suggests its a mid 80's photograph...

There was a thing on telly the other night (BBC3 or BBC4) about fashion photographers - this image was in it. Might still be on iPlayer if you take a look...

This was featured on a BBC4 Programme this week called 7 photographs that changed fashion, unfortunately I can't remember who the photographer was.

It's repeated tomorrow at 9pm on BBC4 if you don't find out before then

Thanks very much lads.

right i'm off to see if i can find the prog on iplayer.
