Just had a call from a mate who has a 13 month old A350 and he has a problem in that when he attaches the kit lens (18-70 I think) and then switches the camera on it makes a grinding noise for a couple of seconds,no problem when he attaches his Tamron 70-300 and no problem taking shots after the noise has stopped.Anybody heard of this problem and any ideas what causes it oh and as it is just 1 month out of warranty do you think Sony might be helpfull.

PS I told him he should have bought a Canon
 
Minolta and Sony camerax spin up the motor to bring the lens to infinity on power up.

This is normal :)
