Help Needed - Sensor Cleaning

Hi,
Just a quick question, i have noticed dust on my images, and was going to attempt to clean the sensor tonight.

I found a PDF manual for the EOS300D which tells me exactly how to do it, by going in through the menu and selecting 'Sensor Clean'. I went into my menu and there is nothing there for cleaning the sensor.

Am i able to lift the mirror manually to clean the sensor, or will this damage the camera?

I dont want to send the camera away to get it cleaned as im off up to the lakes next week and i want to take my trusty 300D with me.

Have you got the camera in green square mode as this bars lots of options in normal shooting, perhaps it's the same here??
