I have been given an antiquated but brand new, boxed and unused Epson Photo 1200 A3 printer. Even the ink was still in its packets!
I used to own a Photo 1290 A3, and this seems essentially almost identical, though I understand it only has a top resolution of 1440dpi against its successor's 2880dpi. A few test prints last night were surprisingly good. The gradations of tone and colour are not quite up to modern standards, but it really isn't bad at all considering that it is something of a technology dinosaur.
My problem lies in the fact that I do lots of black and white work, and everything has a subtle but still annoying greenish cast - I have noticed a similar thing with cheap B&W prints from the machine in Boots, and when I compare results with those I got from the 1290 they are distinctly 'greenscale' as opposed to 'greyscale'. Can anyone help me with advice on setting up a profile which will remove this slight murkiness?
It will be a little while before I can afford an Epson Photo R2880, so it would be terrific to be able to get this machine properly set up in the meantime.
