Hi everyone

About 18 months ago I got a fuji finepix s9600 for my birthday. I love taking pictures but know nothing about it so I wanted a camera which would point and shoot but which had more advanced features so that I could learn how to do more with it. Well I've never quite gotten round to learning what it all does so I don't know if I might have pressed something I shouldn't?

I use the camera to take pictures of rescue animals needing homes so they don't need to be stunning and artistic but they do need to be clear and attractive. Recently I've noticed a purple blur in some of the pictures. I attach an example

Could anyone please tell me what is going wrong?

Thanks in advance

I had this on an old fuji P&S I used to have (sorry, can't remember which model)
It turned out to be a problem with the CCD, which they very kindly repaired for nothing as it was a "known" issue. It started like this, and eventually ended up as a thick purple band. Hopefully this isn't the case for you, and it's just an errant setting been changed somewhere, but if it's happening more on some shots than others, or the purple's always in the same place, I would suggest you get it looked at.

I have the S9600 and have never seen anything like that. Can you post some more photos so we can have a better look. It does look like a sensor problem though TBH, but the clour cast only affects the background......

Thanks guys

No it's not every shot by any means. Typically I've deleted most of the ones which had the issue but here's one other.

As you can see, the purple is quite different in this one

Someone did suggest to me it was something to do with dark subjects on a light background. The other time this happened which springs to mind was taking pictures of birds in the snow so that could make sense.

Does look like a sensor issue to me, I had a Sony camera that done the same thing (only much worse) and it was down to the sensor...

Try reseting all the camera settings to see if that helps, if not I'd get in touch with the retailer you bought if from if you have any warranty left.

Does the Fuji use a card to record images on and, if so, have you tried using a different card?

the recommedation is that one fully formats the card after everyshoot
not just delete
this could help...in later shots
