Help with 2 Film Cameras

Hi

I have been asked to sell 2 film cameras, they belonged to her husband who passed away last month.

I really don’t know the best way to get rid of them, as film is now a specialist market!

My question is are they worth selling and just putting them on eBay and hope for the best or should I find a camera shop which deals with second hand gear!

I don’t know if they are worth anything or not and don’t know where to start, also there are a stack of filters.

I was told he was really into his photography!

I would rather see his old equipment go to a good home then end up in a skip. Any help or advice is greatly received.

The gear

Canon EOS 300
28-80mm lens
EF 80-200mm 1:4.5-5.6

Fujica STX-1n which has 3 lenses and a tele converter and a flash gun

and a stack of filters!

The Canon EF lenses will work with current digital bodies, so it would be silly to limit yourself to persons looking for film kit only. Personally, I'd list the 2 canon lenses and the canon body as 3 seperate auctions on ebay, list the filters individually also, and take advice from someone else on here as to what to do with the fujica and lenses.

The two Canon lenses will sell either on here or you could try AVforums classifieds. Similarly the filters are still of value.

The Fujica is probably not worth the effort I'm afraid.

I've seen 300s going for about £30 in charity shops, and Fujicas for about £5.. that's body only. After Ebay fees that's not a lot for going that route, although the lenses will raise a bit on their own (for the Canon lenses), keep the Fujica lenses with the body.

The Canon has the appeal of taking EF lenses so someone here might take a punt on it, the Fujica has a bit of early '80s retro appeal, and with the lenses it's an all-in-one package. Actually, the Fujica does have a certain charm to it..

Really appreciate to time you have taken to reply

I think that will be the route I take with the canon selling it as individual items.

The Fujica I will sell as a package and list the filters individually

Thaks for your help

You could try antique shops for the Fujica as it is of an age that may just be of interest to them.

The canon body might be a good back-up body for a canon shooter, it's more or less the same as the 300d only the film version from what I gather, and at around £30 cheap enough.
