Help with buying a monitor

Hi all,

I want to buy a monitor to help with with post processing photos especially of portraits,landscapes and especially weddings.I have been recommended a dell 2009w ultrasharp. Is there anyone who could tell me wether this is the best monitor to get for my money or is there a better alternative out there?

That depends on how much money you have to spend and what size you want, it's certainly got good reviews for editing and it's a reasonable price.
 
I have a Dell Ultrasharp 1907fp which is now 4 years old and only 1280x1024 but excellent, although the power switch has recently failed, fortunately in the ON position. In looking for a replacement I've found that most screens now are 16:9 which I find too wide for graphics and photo work. I much prefer the 4:3 aspect ratio, but that's probably my personal preference.
 
If you haven't already got one don't forget to budget for a monitor calibration device such as a Spyder or an EyeOne ;)

I'm already in the process of buying the Spyder Elite from Ian Kerr.Thank's very much for the heads up....:thumbs:
