Hi everyone. Hope someone can help. I have been asked by a Liverpool celeb to take an official picture so she can send to fans etc. she asked me what my rates are but I don't no how much to charge as I haven't done this sort of thing before.

Sonia? It's not going to be a huge print run so a couple of quid for your time I would have thought :)
 
Whatever you want to earn from it, that's your rate!!

Some people will suggest that you have to charge a fortune because you are protecting the reputation of the professional photographer who has a skill that shouldn't be under estimated and needs to be paid for.

Others will suggest that as you have no experience in this kind of thing then you'd be justified in doing it for free so that you can tell all your mates that you took a photo of <insert celebs name here> and it got sent out to all X,000 of her fans.

The only correct answer is whatever YOU think your time & expertise is worth. It could be anywhere from £0 to £10,000.

as above ..there isnt really a set rate.. a pro will already know how much to charge per hr or per shift or per day in order to make a living... everyone else its just up to you.. A) what do you want from it and B) suss out the customer and figure out what you can get :)

sorry thats not much help but any figures you get quoted will be miles aprt as rob says and not really any relevance to your situation..

Thank you guys. :) I have taken photos of sinitta and goldie at fashion week on Monday. Loved it x
 
Make sure that when you do the deal, that you retain copyright and the right to display the images for your portfolio/publicity/website etc. You might be glad to use the pics yourself at some point.
