High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

Few from the Nikon P1000.. mostly around the top end 3000mm just as a bit of a quality test. Quite pleased. Fun camera to use but af is so slow!09A33E34-6F8E-4C67-96FF-D9D357548D03.jpeg09A33E34-6F8E-4C67-96FF-D9D357548D03.jpeg00CD4D81-9ECD-43E8-B4B5-20CAEC627B61.jpeg

Right, after a few years without a camera I had been looking at mirrorless aps-c setups but for various reasons I've pretty much decided to go for a decent bridge camera instead.

The Sony is out on cost grounds so I'm basically looking at an fz1000 mk2 or an fz330. I realise the 330 is a smaller image sensor but it does have the 2.8 aperture across a wider zoom range than the fz1000 so it's possibly swings and roundabouts.

Has anyone had a 330 then upgraded to a 1in bridge or have any other recommendations? I've just received the "we're shutting down for 3 months" news from work so I'll have plenty of time to get to grips with whatever I buy!

I've had all three actually.. the Panasonic FZ1000, the Leica V Lux 114 (FZ1000 copy), the FZ330 and the Leica V Lux 5 (FZ1000 mark 2 copy). The camera I'm left with today, is the Leica V Lux 114 (the FZ1000). To be honest, the sensor in the FZ1000 and the mark 2 version is identical - you're paying quite a few £ more for a touch screen and some other minor bits and pieces. The lens and sensor remain identical. The FZ330, while class leading in its own right, I would discount immediately. Check out DP review for examples, the difference a ⅔ inch chip and 1 inch chip is massive. I'm going to throw something else out to you if you're not desperate for a big BIG zoom and are happy with quality over quantity; The Sony RX10 Mark 2. This features the same class leading 20mp 1 inch chip as the FZ1000 (slightly better quality too) but is built much more professionally and still features 4k video but you get a truly stunning 24-200 Zeiss 2.8. Know why it's a stunner? Becasue I've still got one! It still comes in at around the same price as the FZ1000 and mark 2 for used examples... Food for thought!

Thanks for the feedback, good to hear it from someone with 1st hand experience! I had looked at the mk2 Sony but I think that 200mm might feel a bit limited. When I got my first dslr I had a kit 55/200mm lens and soon ended up with a 300mm - with that in mind though the 400mm on the 1000/2000 should be more than sufficient.

Looks like I'll be spending the first few hours of lockdown looking for a 2nd hand fz1000...

Couple from today... both at the full 3000mm. Still tends to astound me. Shot in Raw as usual, and minor bits and pieces done in photoshop.
