Holy Cow, check this out!

Thats quite clever, although I have seen increasing amounts of technology to produce this kind of stuff. Still, its neat.
 
This kind of technology has been around for a while...(I studied 3D Design at uni so read a lot about advancements in the technology). I can't quite remember which service it was, but the US Geological service springs to mind....anyway, they were using a helicopter mounted laser system to map terrain down to millimeters...mind blowing stuff!!
 
Nasa used the same technology on one of their shuttle missions to map the earth.
Very impressive stuff.
