After an unpleasant experience in late 2007, I wouldn't touch Homebase with a bargepole.

Nor me.
B&Q are possibly worse.

Lots of their ware is bubble wrapped in plastic so strong that you need tinsnips to open it.
That is to stop customers opening it to examine the quality since it is usually rubbish.
Bought cable ties there recently. One way rachet actually went two ways and the heads snapped off.
Their CE brand energy saving lamps can be got 60% cheaper in Asda.
 
Big thanks, at the weekend I made a genuine saving on paint, light fittings, etc of £20 :)
