How can i tell if my Nikon D5000 is a UK model?

Some of you may've seen my recent thread regarding missing out on the 2 year warranty on my D5000 bought from Jessops. This was due to there being no literature on or in the box. I have seen a fellow D5000 owners box and it has a giant sticker on. When i rang Nikon they said if it was UK stock it shouldve had the sticker and literature......
Any ideas?

Look at the warranty paperwork - it'll either say Nikon UK or Nikon BV (either are fine, UK or Euro non-grey lenses are usually BV)

Ive just looked and its defo UK as its states near the barcode and on the warranty it has Nikon UK Ltd. Thanks for the feedback.

Could just be a case of they forgot to put a sticker on the box your camera came in? Are Nikon going to give you the extra year though?

But there was no literature either and my parents are convinced there was no mention of registering the camera in store. Nikon said they cant do anything. Im waiting for the Jessops manager to come back from holiday to speak to him.

Even if this camera is a grey import I would expect there to be literature and warranty card in the box from the country of origin. The fact there's nothing in there raises the question as to whether they have sold you a shop display/demonstrator model (and have managed to lose the docs from the open box) or a returned item that came back sans docs.

For sure, Nikon UK can tell from the serial number if this is a UK stock item ... whether they will tell you is another matter completely :shrug:

Sorry, i think i mentioned further up the warrnty is there stating UK and it says UK near the barcode but its the fact the sticker and warranty literature is missing.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with a D60 , I messed up the online registration somehow

The warranty is actually done through Homeserve , they sent me paperwork back with only details of a 12 month warranty , I rang them and said I wanted the 2 year warranty which was available at the time , they registered me and sent me the updated paperwork

It could be a refurbished one then, but normally they don't come with the regular Nikon warranty paperwork, which should look something like this

That's a start :)

Is there any sticky residue or suchlike on the box that might indicate that a label has been removed?
 
I'd take it back and ask for an exchange for one with the correct UK paperwork or for them to find the paperwork pertaining to that camera. An extra 12 months warranty is a lot to lose out on.

I'm gonna ring Jessops today and speak to the manager who's been on holiday. The warrnty is in order etc but theres nothing about the 2nd year warranty.

What happened with this Phil, did you get the extra year?
 
I rang Jessops again and was told that even without the sticker etc if i had a problem i could just take it to the shop and they would honour it. I have nothing in writing mind.
