How do I........

Not sure if this is the right place but.....

Been getting a lot of activity on one of my flickr photos linked back from facebook. I'm guessing that someone on there's posted a link to it rather than uploading it which isn't a problem for me, but was curious to know who it was, and in what context.....

If I follow the referrer link from flickr, it just takes me to a facebook page with the url on it. Soooo can some/one of our younger members give me a quick heads up on how to find which facebook user is linking back to it?

Should mention that I haven't got a facebook account (too grumpy to have friends) as well which obviously isn't going to help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Not 100% sure but I think you would need a Facebook account to be able to view something on a members profile. From what you have said it does sound like they have posted a link to it, could be in their profile or in a group...

Sorry I wasn't much help....

I see what you mean it only comes up with the page directing you back to your Flickr:thinking:

From the notice at the bottom of the page it looks asthough a member has shared the link with their friends....maybe they were involved in the event....All that happens is the link will show in what's called a news feed with a little thumbnail and will direct the users friends to your Flickr page.

I can't think of a way to find out who has shared it though....would be interested if anyone knows a way to find that out :)

You can use the link: and site: modifiers to see who Google thinks is linking to a page - although it's not actually particularly reliable.
Altavista's versions (link: and domain: ) are much better but in this case it's not much good since facebook hides most of it's details from search engines pretty well.

I did find out that the following page was linking to your page/photo but it looks like the site is dead now:
http://widefamed.info/terror-terrorism-and-the-human-condition.asp

Will try again when I'm home tonight and can get into facebook.

trouble is flickr will only have the external page redirect from facebook as a referrer.. there is no information referring back to the facebook member on that link.

That's the problem that I've hit against - without knowing how facebook encodes it's links I wondered if there was a chance it would log the true referral page.

IS THIS A TEST?

Have you asked Flicker if they can tell you as any link to a site will have details in it as to where it came from.

:) No - Just not up to speed on the MyFacebebobook thing and only really use Flickr as somewhere to put Photo for sharing/posting. I'm happily socially inept (though some humans I know do call me "jaw me dead" as I tend to go on a bit if I'm ranting)

Other than the subject matter of the picture it's pretty uninteresting by even the most liberal critic's standards. Ticks all the boxes for things that make a photo a bit rubbish.

Because of this I wondered why this one got linked to someone on myfacenovel particularly - Generally I get a couple of views per day on the whole photostream (and I know who most of those are) until last week.

Haven't asked Flickr (yet) as there's nothing wrong with it being linked really, just me not being able to figure out why !!!

Exactly that - I guess the burning question is why this photo, thought if I could find out who shared it, it might make more sense..... (probably find it's the rozzer in the picture !!! :D)

BTW - Nice to see someone from Romford - Most of my mis-spent youth was wasted there !!!
