Help please

I'm struggling to photograph my laptop screen as I can't get rid of the wavy lines. I've tried all I know but :bang::bang::bang:

Any advice out there?

Thanks

Get hold of a circular polarising filter and have a play, that should do it.

Don't sceens update at 50 or 60Hz or something like that?

So if you shoot at 1/125, you would get a line as you capture the screen refresh.

I think you'd need to find out what speed the screen refreshes at, and then use multiples of that number. So if it's say 60Hz, use 1/60 or 1/30 as a shutter speed to capture a full refresh.

I think

I thought it was only crt monitors that gave the banding effect. I am not sure if this isnt something else

I always have an issue with LCD screens in the studio, the flashes just wipe out what's on the screen, so I photoshop a screen capture on later - much easier.

Can you not just take a pic of the laptop switched off & then paste a screen
grab onto the screen afterwards

TV's scan at about 1/25 sec, not sure about laptops, I'd try a few different shutter speeds untill it looks good.

That's probably the best bet IMO, I gave a very quick thrash here ('scuse the carp pictures):

and with screen grab pasted and then with a little perspective correction.
