how good is the autofocus on the Fuji S5?

I was using it last night and I have to say it was bloody awful! I normally use manual focus lenses because I feel so out of control with AF lenses.

I had the Nikon 85mm f1.4 (not exactly a slow lens), it was set to continues focusing and single spot focus and I ended up trying to use the middle spot as I knew that one would be a cross.

But the machine is pretty hopeless, I was photographing models on a cat walk, the camera would focus it some times would get the correct focus and some times it would be miles off! But then it just would not track the subject.

Any secret buttons that will improve the focusing system?

Surely its the same as in the D200 - which I found bloody excellent!?
 
Never had any more issues I would categorise as awful or hopeless.

Send me your 85mm f1.4 and I'll try it on mine for you.:)
 
never had an issue when I had mine. Pretty sure it's the same sensor as the d200...
 
Never had any problems with it at all, so if you've broken it I'll kill you :lol:

It had that cracked veiw finder when I got it right? :)


In all seriousness its probably just because I’m comparing it to the AF system on the D300, which is a rather different beast.
