How important is EXIF data to you?

[1] Are there any solid reasons for not stripping it?
[2] Do you need to keep it when resizing photo's for the web?

[1] Yes, on a forum like this we're here to share experiences and help each other so keeping it in the file can help others, if they look at it and see what settings you used it could help them understand at least a small part of how you got the photo.

You can use it for geoloaction of your photos if used with some software and a GPS

It can hold your contact details and copyright information, of limited use I admit as anyone who steals your images off the web probably won't look at it but at least it's there.

[2] Yes :)

I'm often looking at EXIF data on photos posted as I have a EXIF viewer plugin in firefox, it's handy IMHO :)

When ever I'm after feedback on my photos and I think my room for improvement is technical rather than "artistic", I will leave the exif in.
In the same vain, if someone is asking for feedback and I think the issue is a technical one, first thing I do is check out the exif.

If I'm after artistic feedback, or no feedback at all, I strip it out to reduce the file size, and in my experience, it really does reduce file size.

1. No.
2. No.

But I do like to look at peoples EXIF data to see ISO, focal length etc. Mainly motorsport shots.

What he said. If there's a shot I like the look of, it's good to be able to view the exif data to at least get an idea of what the photographer did to get the shot.

There are the honest people who use the contact details to get in touch and request to buy/use your image, well it has happened to me

I do look at the EXIF data on some images just to check what equipment and settings have been used.
