How is this done?

I own the NIK software suite which has some actions for similar looks but I've never been able to get exactly the right look.

Loomax is another photographer on Flickr doing something similar. Before Flickr changed the way it handled EXIF data it was possible to grab the processing data and see what had been done.

I grabbed a few screen shots of the full EXIF quite a while ago before Flickr changed. I can try and dig out the details if that would be useful. I used them to put together a very rough "urban movie look" preset for Lightroom. In summary the above suggestions are about right.. drop the vibrancy, overall saturation boost and selectively balance the RGB saturation, also boost the brightness.. and some spit toning

Teal/orange :P

Try with curves
Red: contrast curve so you get greenish shadows and a slight bit of red highlights
Blue: Pull the highlights down to add yellow and lift the blue shadows to get more of a teal shadow.

Play with it a bit, that's the general colour scheme.

Just had a look at Loomax and he has some amazing images.
If you could post or pm me the details that would be great, but no worries if you can't find them.

i've managed to create some actions to run this type of look...i really like it!!
I use curves (all colour channels) and brightness and exposure sliders.

check out johnny patience, sparth and Joni N on flickr

i've got a link on my pc for a site with some great actions. I'll post later.

The first two are a variation of the Lucis effect. Several extreme adjustments are made then modified to suit the photo and your own taste.
