How Many 135 films out of a 100 foot bulk length

Just a theoretical question really but if I were to buy a 100 foot length how many 36 exp films would I get out of it ?

18 is about right.

Although I've found that eBay sellers selling cinematic film spooled from much larger rolls are generous more often than not (Double-X and Polypan). I suspect things like HP5 and Tri-X will be exactly 100ft.

To be honest I think it's because I don't always 'set' it at the correct place.

You get a lot more if you only wind on enough for 10 frames...

The great thing with bulk refills is that you don't have to do 24 or 36 eposures - you can do 10, 20, 30 or whatever number suits your purposes. Nothing magic about 36!
