how many lenses do you own and how many do you regularly use?

I have 4 lenses and never use one, the 18-55 kit lens as I now have the 17-55 f2.8. I also have a 70-200 f2.8 and it's these two I use the most. The forth lens is a 100mm macro which I do use on occasion.

I have 5 lens,
Sigma 10-20, not used, will not fit 1d
Sigma 17-35, not used much, terrible lens. Want 17-40 F4L.
Canon 100 F2.8 Macro, used sometimes.
Canon 24-105 F4L, most used lens.
Canon 70-200 F4L,second most used lens.

Own: 184 or thereabouts, plus a bunch more on order. But only about 65 or so if you don't count duplicates.

Regularly use: about 3, maybe 5 tops (Sigma 18-200, Canon 10-22, Canon 50/1.4, Canon 100-400, Canon 300/2.8)

Canon EF500 f/4Lis gets a lot of use.
Canon EF300 f/4Lis gets a lot of use.
Canon EF135 f/2L very little use.
Canon EF85 f/1.2Lii very little use.
Canon EF70-200 f/2,8Lis never use it now.
Canon EF70-200 f/4Lis got this as a travel lens.
Canon EF24-105 f/4Lis another travel lens.
Canon EF24-70 f/2.8L gets a lot of use.
Canon EF16-35 f2.8Lii not used this year.

In order of most used..

Canon 10-22 F3.5-4.5
Canon 70-200F4L
Sigma 24-70 F2.8
..
..
..
Canon 50mm f1.8, hardly ever goes on the camera.
then the old kit lens is in my bedroom somewhere..

Own the 10-22, 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM and 70-300 IS USM, and 50 f1.8!
Use the 10-22, 17-55 and 70-300 very often. 50 hardly used at all!

Honest answer, I don't know, well over a dozen (with film as well) and I only regularly use 3 or 4 max. Wayne

Nikon:
14-24mm (hardly use.)
24-70mm (use a lot)
70-200mm (use lots)
300mm 2.8 (use even more.)
50mm 1.4g (hardly use)
A couple of converters. (1.7 used the most)

:crying: Weeps silently at the injustice of it all!

I'd give your 14-24mm a good home on the end of my D700 ;). It'd never be off (well, until the novelty wears off :D)!

Sigma 28-200 f3.8
Minolta 28-85 f3.5
Minolta 35-70 f3.5
Minolta 35-70 f4 (mini beercan)

I alternate between the 28-200 for zoo/ low fly (if I ever see any!!) and the 28-85 for portraits/macro)

The mini beercan is great but the 28-85 is better.

The other 35-70 is fine but superfluous and will be sold.

it's clear that we all have too many lenses and there should be a massive car boot sale somewhere.

ps: I want a longer zoom for the zoo and a wider angle to do some landscape.

I was surprised to find, I have 6 lenses!
Sigma 10 20, not used much but handy when in Museum of Big Things.
Canon 50mm again, not used much but handy for low light n indoors.
Canon 18-55 IS everyday use but want to change for something better.
Canon 35-135, never use it n should get round to selling it (sometime)
Sigma 70-300 APO Not bad lens and used when I cant be arsed carting the big one around...
Canon 100-400L F4-5.6 Used for special occasions, such as air shows n the odd steam train.
Need to thin these out a bit to finance a short zoom, possibly an L of some sort.

Just taking into account the Canon fit lenses (I have some old OM mount lenses also, but they are really for the OM1).

I have 3 lenses. They all get used, but in order 55-250, 18-55 then 50mm. I also have a Raynox DCR250 Macro filter which gets used quite a bit with the 55-250

Canon 50mm f/1.2 L (just bought yesterday)
Canon 50mm f/1.4 (slight use)
Canon 85mm f/1.2 L (just bought yesterday)
Canon 85mm f/1.8 (slight use)
Canon 17-40mm f/4 L (everyday use)
Canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS (mainly holiday use)
Canon 70-200mm f/4 L (quite frequent use)
Canon 100-400mm L (bloody heavy - only used once since owning it but love it)
Canon 100mm Macro f/2.8 (absolutely superb lens - frequent use)
Canon 18-55mm (kit lens) not really used anymore

Yeah i know - Its some collection that is. In my crumpler bag i always carry the 17-40mm and have the 70-200mm with me. Im' afraid buying these lenses is more addictive than crack.

for my 40Dits just the standard kit lens (25-70mm? cant remember:lol) will have a nifty fifty soonish so I will probably just end up using that all the time!

For my praktica I have a standard 28mm, 35mm and erm... one more! i use the "standard" focal length (not wide, not zooming in)

hassy, I switch between 80(or is it 90mm?) and 150mm lenses -150 for portraits, 80/90? for everything else!

finally to my new love and joy- I use a 35mm (wide angle) and 50mm FED/Jupiter lenses on my Bessa R! I interchange, but I have noticed that I tend to use the 50mm more. (I also am trying out an enlarger lens on my bessa, but dunno how that will work out:LOL:

basically I pretty much use all the lenses I own!

there are a few others for my praktica hidden somewhere, but they are cheap spares!

Canon 600mm f4 Lis Always in use for "bird on a stick."
Canon 17-55mm f2.8is Most non "bird on a stick" stuff.
Sigma 30mm f1.4 Kids parties, family gatherings.
Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro stuff. (If I am in the mood.) Plus extension tubes.
Sigma 12-24mm If I ever want wide (rarely used.)
Canon 24-70mm f2.8 L Never use.
Canon 70-200mm f2.8 Lis Never use.
Sigma 17-35mm f2.8 Never use. (Away on hols.)

Plus Canon 1.4X and 2X convertors.

Oh, and one other lens ... Canon 35-350 L. I keep thinking about selling this as I do not use it that often, but when I do I am reminded just how good it is - its versatile zoom range coupled with excellent quality means that I always have a smile on my face when the prints come out of the machine.

I have 2 and use 2

The EF-S 17-85mm

and EF 50mm 1.4

Even though the 50mm is great for portrait work I find it very restrictive for other things, like once when i was in Norwich I nearly got run over because i was trying to frame something.

And the kit lens I find it's way to short for my liking, need a longer zoom, and need a 10-22mm for landscape stuff.

Looking from what other people have posted I can see a lot of posting's appearing in the for sale section.

with the d80 I've still only got the kit lens, but with my old canon film I have...:
35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm, 200mm, 300mm and few zooms that i rarely used.

Out of those, my most common lenses were the 35 and the 85. I wouldn't normally take anything else.

I can't see myself chasing a new news to replace the kit anytime soon either, as I've realised the lenses won't improve my photography. If i could pick up a good deal i'd get the following:
50mm 1.4
35mm FX (mostly because I'm using a DX body but will no doubt upgrade to FX at some point, and the 35mm FX will almost act as a 50mm.)

I have 4 lenses

Nikon 50mm 1.8
Nikon 85mm 1.8
Nikon 18-200mm VR
Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro

I mainly used the 50mm, but now that I have the 85mm i'll be using this more for portraits.

I might sell my 18-200VR because I want to get a prime wide angle, around the 24mm range, or maybe one with a bit of zoom and some other lens, but the 18-200 it's a good all-rounder lens, especially for holidays when I dont want to spend all my time changing lenses and all sorts.
