Im not a professional photographer by any stretch f the imagination. but wouldnt mind some help/suggestions/advice here as I am a little out of my comfort zone

I have been asked to supply 3 12 x12 inch images and one image 8 x 13 ... these are images I have taken of wild flowers for a work colleagues kitchen

I have quoted for the frames and mounts etc but i have no idea how much i should charge for the actual photograph ... i will print at home so minimal costs there but would like to cover the cost of printing and a little extra for the "new lens" fund ...

Any suggestions of a what would be deemed a reasonable amount??

Enough so you can change from Canon to Nikon :-)
Nice one Tezz, could be the start of a new business venture.

I don't know what the norm is for a photograph but I have bought a few limited edition prints of some wildlife paintings by Geoff Taylor and they are around £40 for just the print.

It would depend on the relationship with the buyer for me..... for a good friend I'd charge materials and maybe £10-£20 on top for a "drink".

For A N OTHER I'd work out my time at around £20-£30ph and add that to the cost of materials.

I'm having first thoughts about doing this. The idea was spurred on by me having a photo of a sunflower and having it framed for my son's music teacher (last lesson).

I printed off an A5, took it to the local framing shop and had it backed and framed for £15. Looked like it was worth £40 when all done.

For a good friend, I would probably find a way of doing it as a gift. Using standard frames and mounts in those sizes* it's going to work out about £10 per image all in, give or take a couple of quid - unless they want some particularly fancy frames.

For AN Other I'd charge materials x2-x5. Upping the multiplier the less I knew the person.

*I'd fiddle the image sizes to fit the closest standard frame size (check Ikea/The Range). Custom frame sizes gets expensive quickly - I've made that mistake before.

I have quoted for the frames seperatly I have a man that does, so have offered her images at £20 pounds each (mounted but not framed) or offered them framed at the cost he has quoted me plus the 20 for prints and mounts ...
will see what she says and let you all know

thank you very much for the input everyone :)

If they are a friend or work associate I would just charge for material

You will get more satisfaction when you see there face and say WOW you are good with your camera.

Is it a wow pic? Will it be used for decoration or for advertising?

If for advertising charge an arm and a leg for it mate

He has already stated it was for a work colleagues kitchen

I'm not so sure I'd be doing the print at home bit. £50 should cover the prints/time if it's a friend.

No point stinging them if you have to work beside them is there?

its a work colleague ...

I have an A3 printer and happy to do the printing at home .. far more cost effective and prints better than Crappysnaps in the High Street.

Work colleague has gone for all four images framed and mounted ... a little bit of extra cash for my new lens fund :)

Now stating she wants more for the bedrooms that she about to redecorate :)
