Got this A1 Canvas printed and mounted on a wooden frame but the guy did not provide anything to hang it on wall and I was wondering if someone may have a clever idea?:thinking:

Hi,

I just hung my A2 canvas on my wall the other day, i will try and explain how i done it.... Hopefully it makes sense.

Get 2 of these hooks. CLick Link for pic
put one either side of the frame (on the inside) a few inches from the top. Then tie some string between them (nice and tight)

If your canvas is like mine it will have a cross bar in the middle, i cut a groove in this so the string would sit flush, then i hung two picture hooks on my wall either side of the cross bar and now the canvas sits flush to my wall.

I will try and take a couple pics of it tonight.

I hope this helps.

Chris.

Big nail straight through the middle of it...well that's the way I'd do it but then I was never very good at DIY...lol

But seriously, maybe get some of that thin wire and those little hoook things that you can screw in to the side of the wooden frame? Attach thewire to each hook thingy and then hang the canvas off that on a nail in the wall?

Red = two of the hooks chris talked about on the inside of the frame. The blue is the groove you cut and the green is the string, then you just stick to hooks into the wall and hang it from the string.

As you can see, I am highly skilled with MS Paint.

There... that is exactly what i was meaning ,
it looks great when done like this and keeps the canvas flush against the wall.

Drill a hole right through the wall, then pop a 12inch screw through the hole in the wall and into the frame. Easy peasy.

I have some hangers that I use for larger canvas prints I produce. They screw into the back of the wood and have a sawtooth edge which grips the nail and allows for adjustments to level the picture. The canvas is held flush to the wall.

I'll post some pictures when I've got round to taking some...

and how they attach to the frame: (these aren't the right screws - just what I had handy for the shot)

Don't listen to all these people. Their advice is far too simple. You need a large hammer and chisel to knock a big hole out of your wall about 2-3 inches bigger than the size of your frame and the same depth. Insert the frame and fill around with polyfilla. Leave to dry and then repaint or re-wallpaper, taking care not to pain over the canvas. It should come in at less than £300 if you do it yourself, although a builder will charge you up to £20,000 (it really depends on whether time or money is more valuable to you).

Either way, it's a win-win as you get a complete redecoration as well as having your canvas positioned in a way that ensures it never moves. You can also get new carpets at the same time if needed, especially if you drop some of the pollyfilla / paint / wallpaper glue onto it (This will most likely happen, so I definitely would budget for carpets if I were you).

Good luck with it all. If you need a builder, I can recommend a good one who'll give a 10% discount to forum members

p.s. and you might want to start saving for the next one now, as you are bound to get bored with the canvas within a year or two. :D

[UP ARROW] How did you know - Thats just what I would do - Lets make it complicated:thumbs:
