im very confused about the zoom length of lenses. The lens i want says 75-300mm. how far will that zoom and how do you tell how far each lens zooms.:|

ccsnet you star, the Park link you gave explains aperture [ and shutter speed relation to it ] in a way I can actually understand properly for the first time :woot:

thankyou very much :) i know exactly what lens to get for my live music photography and landscapes :D

Not the 75-300 then I guess? Too long for a lot (not all though) landscape shots, and too slow (aperture wise) for gig photography.

Focus & aperture I understand and I follow on a technical lever what the Fstops etc mean but when you start adding in the telephoto vs / normal / vs wide for set picture types and forground / background level I loose it.

1) Bigger aperture better as you can use a higher better ISO
2) Lenses depend on what you want to take but depending on the lens fore/background focus' differently

I'll get there eventually but I think I really at the point where reading is no longer helping and I need hands on....

PS Glad I could help
