Day out with the Red Arrows at RAF Scampton. This was the first run-out fr the new pilots on the team and the very first time they've flown in formation together.
Best part of the day was sitting in on the pilot's briefing and de-briefing sessions before and after the sortie and getting to chat them all during lunch. These guys really are the 'best of the best'. But don't tell them I said that - bl00dy crabs...
Not really set up for us taking photos; the angles were a bit iffy and I'd liked to have waited until later in the afternoon for the aerial shots, but there you go...

Once again, just links to avoid being chopped by the admins.

The other spooky thing was seeing the grave of Guy Gibson's dog 'Nigger' next to the old 617 Sqn Hangar. One forgets they fought a war from places like this not too long ago.

I like the 2nd one. I also like Blackadder Goes Forth - Rik Mayall/Ade Edmondson episode. ;)

Really like the 3rd one of them taxing, like the colours alot, and to see them in this position is so rare.

Good stuff:)

The 3rd shot with the heat haze from the front jet works really well. Immediately takes me back to being a kid in Weymouth wtaching them fly over for some special event. Amazed by them then & still now :)

I like the third as well. Only thing which annoys me about it is the tail bit of the plane in front on the righ hand side

You're annoyed? Think how I feel - we literally sprinted with all our kit to get into position before they'd all gone. I missed the first four aircraft and only managed about four frames of these.

1st one is a little dark (IMHO), but the other two are superb.

Agreed - the original looks brighter on my monitor. Hmmm... some gremlins on the Photobucket site perhaps...

The third one for me - composition is super. Thanks for showing.

regards

I agree the second shot has great framing but it's the third that grabs my attention, great atmosphere.

excellent shots Arkady, very cool.

We have war mamorials and all that sort of thing where we are in Kings Hill, its the old West Malling airfield site...

its petes model pictures, still on my mind

Ha! Wait til next week - off to Baghdad on Monday:banana: .

Be careful is all I'm saying :thumb:

There is always this option...

Plus 100 rounds of 9mm Parabellum.:D

For real? Only once, thank God. And yes, I hit what I aimed at. I think that about covers it.

I don't count the many, many times I had to wave a rifle in someone's face (Belfast, South Armagh, Chad). So far not had to in Afghanistan or Iraq - Americans came close to annoying me last time though, when they put two .50" cal rounds through the engine block of the CBS crew we were escorting.

Nice pics, especially the 3rd. Are they still training out at Akrotiri?

The 3rd shot is great, the heat haze gives a feeling of action !

Mark.
