Long story, but I have taken pics for a friend and they are "slightly" out of focus (I blame the camera!!)
Now there was a thread on here about 18 months ago where someone showed how to sharpen or otherwise change the focus so that the picture looked ok, if it helps I think the pic was of was someone on a racing bike.
I have searched on terms I think would have found the thread but it is not coming up, does anyone else remember it or know what the software was that was used please?
No point telling me to shoot the pictures again as sadly its impossible :'(

That does sound like an intensely sized bobo! Any chance of a sample to see how much fixing is needed?

There is a piece of software called "focus magic" that might help.
Not sure where I saw it now, but the sample images are pretty impressive.

It is pretty intense! Basically the focus is a fair way behind the intended subject - lovely :(

Thanks a lot, I will look that up
just make them very very small! :)

About 6x4 by the looks of them!

At least I did some portraits today that look really nice, just a shame about the others.

Hmmm that focus magic product looks like only what photoshop CS4 can do...

Besides, their sample photos... hmmm looks nasty before and even nastier afterwards!

Maybe to be fair some detail comes out, but it hardly looks like something I'd want to hang on the wall!

I only have elements6 at the moment, looks like there is a fair bit in CS4 thats not in elements :(

The old ones I certainly would not want on the wall, its just that there are no others.

Try a bit of high pass sharpening.

Duplicate layer
turn B&W use the portrait setting
Go to Filter - other - high Pass set to about 15 ~20
Blend the layers = soft light
go back to High Pass filter and adjust to suit.

Thanks very much, I will give that a go in the morning, its about time for my cocoa and bed now!

I read a review somewhere, the guy went into some depth and did get some really good results.
Can't hurt to try can it? First 10 images are free, must be worth trying.

 :banana::banana: Just tried the high pass filter method - its made a huge difference on the one I pulled out and almost looks printable!!

I may have a trial of the Focus Magic, but at least I can get a rescue mission going on them now :D

Now thats a good sign then. Hopefully it'll work on all the images. Shame the er...camera was playing up. Mine does it alot!

Theres focus magic and focus fixer, both seem to do a similar job, that said there is a limit to what any software can do, without seeing the pics it's hard to say if they are "fixable".

Well I suppose it was more the lens than the camera really - looks like some idiot (obviously could not possibly have been me!!) had caught the af switch and changed it to mf so the background was nicely focused - I really think the camera should have said something to me though

Well it looks as if they are fixable thanks to the high pass filter, I have just printed the one I had a play with last night at 8x6" and it just looks like a little bit of motion blur on the legs so with the ones I did yesterday I should be able to get some nice ones put together for them :)
