I am in need of some advice.
Recently I had a minor accident & am now left with a dent in the retina of my only good eye. This means I am now waiting on a pair of specs as everything is blurred in the viewfinder.

I use a Nikon D70 & Nikon D300 & was wondering if I should get an eye cup or such like to fit on the eyepiece to allow me to use my specs. Are they any good or have you any other ideas?:help:

Hi,

I have no advice on an eyepiece, but the optometrist in me is curious - what accident caused a dent on your retina?

I use the teardrop shaped eyecups on mine Charlie. They are only pence on ebay, wether they would help or not I can`t say as I don`t wear glasses.

More importantly, I hope you are ok and mend well. And be careful bud........

Hi,

I have no advice on an eyepiece, but the optometrist in me is curious - what accident caused a dent on your retina?

I got hit in the eye by a fragment of metal off a grinder. This got embedded in my eye but I personally think the damage was done taking it out. Have you ever seen your eye getting pushed inwards! She was using a thing with a magnet & really just kept scratching along the surface of my eye till she got it to move.
Went to the optician yesterday & he tells me it will be like that ( a small'dent') for life now. I lost the focus on my eye after she had finished with me. Now seeing double/blurred out of that eye. Glasses will fix it but I am not too sure how I will get on using a camera with specs. Hence the question about eyepads for the camera.

I wear specs and use a D300 with only the normal eyepiece that the camera comes with. I get on fine and it is second nature having had glasses most of my life however I would be interested if anyone has anything that would be better

I hope your eye is now better - my only piece of advice is if you are going to be using a grinder (or anything similar) get a really decent pair of goggles to wear over the glasses. The cheap ones just steam up and cause more problems than they solve. The decent ones have special vents built into them that help to stop the steaming up issue.

Sorry to hear about your accident Charlie. I use a D300 and wear glasses and to be honest its not a problem, what is a problem is shooting left eyed and constantly moving the focus point with my nose.

Sorry to hear about this, hopefully the double vision at least may go in time.

I wear specs / contacts and I generally find I can use my standard viewfinder perfectly fine with my specs on, though I havnt tried it with your exact setup.
