Sorry to hear that, best of luck finding alternative employment

Sorry to hear that aswell, Good luck with the hunting:thumb:

Sorry to hear that mate, hope you find something soon, and more importantly something you enjoy.

Work to live, not live to work and all that :)

Regards

Happy hunting MyPix - not good news just before the festivities !

Hope 2006 proves better for you ... assuming you were sorry to lose the previous ?

good luck Vince!

I walked out of my job back in October.

Still looking for something new.

I know that feeling, gets to you and I hope you find work soon.....I got so fed up trying to find work with my skills as a desk top publisher after I moved to Cambridge, that I thought I would try something using other skills and I got a job sewing beads on wedding dresses and I start on Jan 9th! Good Luck!

Confidence is the key, have it and you will get a job! Good luck :)

That really sucks I was made redundant back in September but thankfully have found another job now.......All the best in finding a new job soon :)

Treat your job hunting as a job.
Get up at the same time and put a full days hunting in.
Get down to the library, go through the yellow pages and make a list of all the prospective companies in your acceptable travelling distance and send a covering letter/CV

Register with all the online recruitment sites.
Worked for me (eventually)
The seed i sewed reaped 3 consecutive job offers at the same time and I had the luxury of picking and choosing.

Don't lose hope!

That sort of philosphy worked for me too, I got two job offers at the same time. I spoke to a special friend about all the worries I had and she told me to stop worrying about the money (or lack of it) because I actually needed to be with people more than anything...it worked for me! Got a poorly paid job to go to but its better than nowt and I can still look for better work if I need to...

I spent about 4 months over the summer unemployed, partly through my own choice. It now looks like I'm gonna be movin jobs around the beginning of february again. Haven't managed to find anything, yet. But I'm not worried. I'd rather be doing a crap job for rubbish money and have no pressure than be earning 40k and surfing my way to a breakdown!

Having said that, if I could earn a decent living from something I love......????

Pornstar?
Photographer?
Dj?
Whisky connisseur?
Loafer?

Good luck!! :) So far, I've been lucky that I've had jobs to "transition" into.

Well, New Year, new start. All the best!

PS: What do you do?

Supervisor,
Pump Monkey,
Book-keeper,

none of which paid well, but all were interesting!

As for Mypix, well can't answer for the bloke, but I wish him well on his search for employment nirvana!

thanks for all the replies peeps,

didnt manage to find anything last week, but i have a few promises for monday , possibly starting tuesday,

to make things clear, i'm a ' freelance ' ( or subby ) electrician, being ' laid off ' happens about every 12 weeks or when a project has ended, then an agancy ( one or another ) will try and find me another position and off we go again,
christmas is a traditional slow period for electricians and i didnt manage to find a start for after the holidays,

i have done it this way for 13 out of my 22 years at work, lol

once again, thanks for all your good wishes, and lots of good advice for peeps who are out of work

Got made redundant 2nd Decemeber & Its time for a new career . Spent 27 years doing Electronics design but as I'm now 44 and all the electronics jobs are heading to the Far-east I thought it was time for a change.

So from this Monday I'm doing work experience with my Father :) with a view to moving into his line of work (Health & Safety consultant).

Could get some interesting photos........;)

MrG. As a (soon to be ex) factory owner I have never met such a bunch of jobs worths as the hse (factory) inspectorate.
It is not good enough that you have guards on the machines...never had an accident....have written a ridiculous manual/procedures book ....they *have* to find something they can write you up for. :banghead:

We spent an enormous amount of time and hence money finding out which hoop to jump through next... and writing it down. :hissyfit:

So in short - I think you could be onto a winner... assuming there is anyone left in the UK doing manual work . Mind you there is probably legislation for how lift paper correctly in an office.

Good luck :)

Everything usefull & productive is getting off-shored , all we are going to be left with is "do you want fries with it" and "you can't park that here". Health & safety is not what I'd call a dynamic or thrusting career but it will keep me in lenses and motorcycle tyres (and feed the family :))

Ps Will be passing through the Woodford area on monday so if you want any extra hoops just ask :D

At my last job I was on a course in how to pick up cardboard boxes....................

you laugh but some people I've worked with really do need to be taught how to pick stuff up and have it expalined to them that yes you CAN fit alot of stuff into big boxes but its not always a good idea, a 3 foot cubed box full of paper for example :nut: . The person in question got a little irrate when I told him to start again with several smaller boxes ....... well I did give him the option of loading his one box onto the parcelline lorry and he tried and unsurprisingly failed to shift the thing :laugh1:
