I want a new camera! *cries*

the 400D max is 1600 and noisey at that!

Max ISO on a 50D is 3200, but there are two stops buried in the custom functions - 6400 and 12800.

That, i didnt know. Have been trying to avoid most things 50d related as it will just make me want one. :bang:

you know you want want MJ, stop trying to deny yourself one :p

Stop it! Thats just evil. I need more glass before i get new bodies!
Stop teasing me! I hate you all

Lol Pete I do shoot things outside the studio you know....:lol::lol: :p

Didn't say you didn't :p I said outside a studio because inside you can set to ISO 100 and then adjust the light as you see fit. Outside you have less control, especially at events. Having usable ISO6400, 12,800 or pushing it to 25,600 is a stop every jump. Up the ISO, better shutter speed, sharper shots. Pretty obvious stuff really.

Yeah, but a lot of people dont shoot generally above 3200 unless they have the money to spend on the kit that will do it [or they just use flash  where possible] I know I was shooting at ISO 1600 on the D200 on some of the wedding shots that DD mentioned, and was down to 1/20th wide open at 3.5 - its the worse wedding we have shot at for darkness - but the rest of them have been fine.
I'd love a D300 as it handles noise a lot better than my D200 but currently...funds do not stretch :)

Money isn't even a factor here. You asked why you need high iso. I often shot at ISO1600 and now I have the option to shoot at 6400. Why? Because it gives me more light in darker conditions. Thats why high ISO is important.

Two parts cos you asked why ISO was important. Which I answered. Done, move on.

but all this is irrelevant if budget only stretches to a p&s:thumbs:

so when you looking at buying betty?

Fletch, im after more glass, but the 50d is such a nice bit of kit. I cant afford either, but 33L is tempting me and im just trying hard to resist!

Cruel people! :p

I don't get this...

It looks like a half decent shot of a Sigma lens, but with something weird stuck on the back of it

:naughty:

Without re-reading the thread - what exactly is it Betty wants to shoot that she can't already due to inferior ISO?

DD
