On the menu tomorrow,
chicken carcasses and wings from the butchers.

Fresh cockerell from the farm,

Turkey leg from Fernface, who wil be joining me after lunch till sun down up the other end of the field to see if he has any luck.

Any other ideas gratefully recieved.

Got up 4.30 this morning, in the hide by 5 am, ready and waiting stayed there until 10 then got cold and hungry !! nothing sited not even a rabbit absolutely tiddly squat,

went home had quick bite to eat then took dogs out, thought I would revisit where I was this morning and within 1/2 hour of being gone, all chicken wings eaten and bones left, chicks had gone and chicken had been plucked and started to be eaten.

What else does one have to do to get the picture of the elusive buzzards, hide is no problem, they don't seem to mind it.

have a nesting pair and 3 young ones all flying around.

I WILL NOT GIVE UP.

Out again tomorrow.:help:

It's all about time Nicki, they watch you spending time waiting, then as soon as you go, boom, they are in :D

If I was a twitter I would have shot after shot to show here, we are surrounded by them.

I am not up to date with them but they look like eagles, there are hundreds of them, on fence posts, in fields, every where we look.

A holiday in the French Pyrenees is really quite amazing.

Time, don't I know, they must have binoculars trained on me. :D

Ahhhhh yes but I bet as soon as you point a camera at them they are gone !

Patience, seldom found in men never in woman, or something like that.:D Thats the secret, i WILL succeed- sooner or later

Oh no not that!, if i wanted to be sick i would give you a kiss:D

Right, battle begins as to who can get the first WILD buzzard, not captured but Oh yes I forgot you have not got a kite yet feeding on the ground - want to buy a picture

Nicki. You and hubby should go up to the hide together and then let hubby come away on his own once you are inside and settled. Some say that birds cant count so this will fool the birds, including buzzards possibly, as they will think the hide is empty.

Worth a go maybe

nigpd, has it right, birds are incredibly observant but also very stupid sometimes. One person walking away from a hide will fool them into thinking that it's empty.

No, I have lost count the times they have flown alongside my car or watching me watching them.

There is an old timer who will let stop your car opposite him for a few moments before TF

That picture was uncalled for, i am upset by that;), are you going to do the walking away bit then:D, cos im flaming not:D

Yes go on I will walk away with my head held low and tell them all to come with me

I have been observing them tonight and they are more up in the grass area where you will be and the field next to you will be combined tomorrow so they should be active, as they normally are following the combine, just got to coax them with "turkey"

Find a mate who goes shooting and get a fresh rabbit, whole...they love them especially the smaller, younger ones

We have done that  going to try again, I shoot rabbits here and Fernface can get them, lets face it they are just really fussy birds, (well arn't we allowed to be  )

Quite a few mate who go out often have rabbits pinched off them by buzzards and foxes

Quick detour - where do red kites/buzzards nest

Whilst walking the dog on our local forest/grassland I sat for ages and watched one circling over head. Brown feathers, white patches on the underside of wings and I think a forked tail.

It flew off, but over the last few days I've noticed a new nest high up on a pylon. Could this be it's home? I don't think it's the heron as that nests in the trees around the lake usually.
