Ideal setup, what would you have?

What's with all these people pairing the D3/D700 and 12-24?

For me:

D3
D300
Nikon 14-24 2.8
Nikon 24-70 2.8
Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR

(That's just my top 3 lenses obviously there would be a 200 f/2 VR a 300 2.8 VR and a 35mm 1.4 in there too

The extra 2mm of width makes a big difference - but having the Dx Nikkor sort of defeats the object on the Fx bodies, I'll agree which is why I specified the Sigma.

Totally off topic, but I used to go to Lancaster uni and had some friends there from Alsager!! Small world

Hi sorry for the late reply, it works well with the 400D and should be the equal with the 350D i always say the DSLR camera is just the capture part, But a extremely good capture device pro quality, But the glass is the most important, it's the Len's i use most, would not be with out it, it is so versatile from 24 wide angle to the best portrait lens i believe out there with a effective focal length when needed.

The quality feel to it makes you want to take pictures, i like the way that even in Auto focus if you change your mind in an instant to focus on somthing else you can manually over ride the Auto by just refocusing with your hand, helps when talking portrait pictures of kids who are never still, and a silent focus at that, they don't come cheap, but when you have one there worth the money, be careful when you hire one, you will be buying soon after.


But have a look and a play with the Sigma 18-125 OS (optical stabilizer) HSM that is a great lens a little wider with a bit more reach but the quality is not far behind, and at just over £200 it's affordable as well, + sigma are doing a 3 year warranty offer on Len's at the mo just log on to Sigma UK and register if you buy one,

im quite happy with what i got:
canon 50mm 1.4
sigma 24-70
sigma 50-150

pretty much covers all my needs.
 
At the moment I'd go for :-

2 X 1D mkIII and a 1Ds mkIII *
24-70 f2.8 L
70-200 f2.8 IS L
300 f2.8 IS L or 400 2.8 IS L (I'd like the length but not the weight)


* rule 1 did not mention number of bodies allowed
 
Hi with the camera what is the advantage of a £2-£4 K camera body :eek:over a £500 one :)...apart from the sensor:p, which full frame can be obtained at £1200 in the 5D, i need to know as i may have to buy one of these if they are so differant.:) better, :thinking:

In the Nikon system, the cheapest FF DSLR is a touch under the £2k mark but to replace the wide angle lenses I already have for the Nikon system and get a 5d to use them on would be rather more! Besides, the low light capabilities of the D700 are supposed to be way ahead of those of the 5d. At the moment, I'm using my old film bodies for the wide angle shots - by far the cheapest option at the moment!

Bit of a no-brainer for me too, although if I were to be allowed to add som primes you'd have to add 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, 200mm f/2 and 400mm f/2.8. It would also be nice to have one of the PC lenses and a fish eye too. :D
 
I'd get a 'blad with a digital back and an 80mm ish lens then a 1d III with the 70-200 f2.8 and probably the 16-35 f2.8...
