Hi all,

Well last June I purchased my 5DmkII with the thought 'live view what a joke', but i've come to like it and is a handy tool when shooting, let me explain...

Most of my photography relies heavily on picture styles and I am able to change them and modify them using live view which is awesome so I can taylor it in live view then shoot normally knowing I am sorted with settings.

Another bonus is white balance, I only ever use custom white balance however using live view I can change my settings similar to the picture styles meaning I can change my white balance and get it spot on without having to shoot 5-6 shots to make sure I've got it right

Has anybody else been converted to using live view to assist their photography?

Yes - but not all the time......

I find when composing an image with strong graphic composition it help to use live view. I think it is because I'm no longer looking at my surroundings, I'm looking at the image on the camera.
It's far easier to be objective about refinements to lighting, composition and background clutter.

Also, my TS-E gets used a lot low down. Live view saves having to grovel in the mud to see what's going on.

I use it for moon pictures. I find it easier to focus.

But only for that...

^ yeh that, i love live view for when im doing landscape shooting through ND filters so you can get shutter bang on everytime, especially when chasing the light you can't be doing faffing about - also love the grid overlay for horizon levelling and 3rds
