iMac Screen Issues

There's lots of info out there in googleland about issues with early iMac 24" screens. But these relate mainly to backlight problems where a section of the screen is a little darker than others. Or horizontal lines that show with a black screen.

My problem is hardly noticeable in general use and only becomes a pain when working with a mainly white screen or scrolling through a mainly white or light page - such as a light coloured forum :bang:

These dark bars appear to be dust. But they're not.

This picture is an iPhone captured image with the front glass removed and after a thorough clean.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Thanks

You can change the colour of the forum, see the drop down bottom left. I know that doesn't help the problem but for the meantime......

I've just realised that it's still under AppleCare. So I'm backing up and transferring gubbins to the wife's iMac, then it's oft to the iHospital.

Marc - I'll let you know how I get on.

Just collected the iMac from the repairers. All sorted - just like new.

Apparently, the lcd costs about £380 I think he said. But this was being done under AppleCare.

Sadly, no. It is clearly a replacement issue. Cannot be solved by cleaning with Flash! ;)

I think the technical term is knackered.
