Improving Composition

Hi

can anyone offer any advice of how to make improvements in composition... I'm not naturally creative so I think that partly holds me back.... I've learned some of the "rules" such as 1/3rds etc, but what I am more interested in is developing an "eye" to see even the mundane as an interesting photo, and taking it that way....

I've toyed with buying books to help etc, but tbh I cant see how reading a book is going to help me with this..... anyone else got any wisdom on how to develop this part of the skills?

I would look into things like fine art, painting and sketching. I studied art through school and that has help no end.

I am personal fan of "cross training" in everything you do ;)

I did read a book called the photographers eye, by Micheal Freeman. I was (still am) in the same position as you. The read certainly made me look at things in a different and more creative way. I feel that it has helped me, just need a re read some time and lots more practice!!
