Evening all,

I've got a couple of photoshoots coming up soon and I fancy doing something a little different with a couple of the ladies and looking for locations, ideas and suggestions as I'm new to the area.

The majority of the stuff I've done with family and friends has been based in rural areas, so looking for more "Youth" to the images (probably the best way to describe it) so more archetectural, industrial, abandoned (that doesn't require urbex style stealth) graffiti, desolate etc

Thanks in advance

Scott

To be honest mate id love to find somewhere like that too, im into urbex and the majority of places iv been to require stealth. graffiti wise theres a train bridge in the meadow near to toys r us which used to have a lot painted on it, might make for a good shoot with the right light?

Erm

Overstone Manor (or School for Girls) ill have to find an exact location but as far as deralict goes

Delepre Park maybe

http://g.co/maps/rj89s - Theirs a level crossing here with sufficient access to get onto the old disused railway (used to run between Northampton and Bedford (as well as peterborough)) you can walk the disused railway right the way up to the current station (its overgrown and has old looking grafitti'ed bridges, buildings and particually around the network rail part it's pretty trashed ) I always find it interesting.

The track isn't electrified and has been out of use since the early 90s.

Im sure others will add to the list.

Ah can't say ive run into him ;)

The railway is probably the best suggestion I can think of. Plenty of weird photos to be had here

I have one of the bridge you were refering to somewhere but I can't for the life of my remeber where I put it.

You can also gain access from the brackmills side (the bit behind netto has been pulled up and fenced off)

Useful thread a I'm moving to Kettering in two weeks. We should have a meet.

I'm from the Northampton/Kettering area, and I'm struggling to think of anywhere suitable. I would normally have suggested the are around the Soundhaus/Top of the Town, but I believe there are new flats there now, however I've not been back to Northampton for ages.

Jesus, I'm in Semilong with family in Abington!

Some cracking suggestions there, gonna take my fiance' out to recce those areas and see what we think.

Thanks guys, but if you think of more, throw them in the pot :)

Gonna find out soon. First stop Overstone Manor to have a word with the security bods.

The bridge entrance at brackmills I'll check out (hopefully) tomorrow

It's easier to get on the line at Bridge Street. Nothampton up until the 60s had 3 stations. One of them (Northampton Bridge Street) The lines were all pulled up except a small section of track between Northampton and Brackmills where they used to produce Rail Track and distribute it. If you go into the southern most carpark you can still see the line is labelled however about a mile of the track has been uprooted behind Netto so they couldn't use it now if they wanted to.

the line that branches off left is the abandoned line. The easiest way onto it as in my last post is at Bridge Street. http://g.co/maps/ztkev behind the billboard here their is no end of access points in.

The other side of the level crossing is pretty much a no go until you get the other side of Avon which is a pitty. You can get onto the tracks under the A43 http://g.co/maps/87zsx or the very end of the line inside of brackmills however theirs no easy way past the level crossing at brackmills.

Their not a lot to see or either of the three sections however it's pretty abanoned if your after that look

I meant a photography meet. I don't drink anymore.

james dont drink either, unless its shandy :D

i would definately be up for meeting a few people, not found many of my own locations yet. jsut salcey forest and tree top walk.

unfortunately time is a bit limited at the moment.

Checked out the bridge street entrance on the abandoned Bedford line. Went in from the netto end and while the graffiti bridge is definitely something I can use, the rest looks a little too overgrown now.

I'm going to venture further down the line in both directions and see what we can find.

The kelmarsh line will be one on the list :)

I'd be up for a meet too but as another transferee to Northampton I'm not overly familiar either but there could be a few spots on the canal route as it runs behind the Carlsberg brewery that might be useful.

thats all been renewed recently with new paths and bridges etc so i assume cleaned of graffiti etc but it might be worth a shot. Defo up for a meet, would be good to get a group together :)

shall we stop talking about a meet and actually do one ? lol

now we going to go to a pub? or shall we meet at a location, and just have a general chin wag and take some photos?

i dont mind pm'ing people, and sorting something out :D

i was thinking we could just meet up have a coke or two, and if anyone knows a good local site we could bust it over and have a look?

or alternatively we can choose a location, meet up, and go take some pictures and have a chat :D

I might be up for this seeing as I'm only down the road about 5 mins away from northampton.

ive got a suggestion, and theres a pub called rose and crown in quinton, its a bit out the way, but seemed nice.

I think the old railway bridge (that carried the above railway) is still their and graffitied when I last went their. I wouldn't say it warrants a mass photography session though  im not sure what state the new Marina is in Beckets park now?

Ill take a look though my photos later and see where I usually go in the summer :)
