My pc is currently struggling due to a slow internet speed it can drop as low as 30kbts and constantly times out. I thought at first it was a provider fault until I realised the speed was ok on our laptops which can be a high as 4meg.
I have looked at task manager as advised by my son who confirms there are no viruses eating up my bandwidth, he even suggested it could be the pc itself at fault, my other son appeared to have fixed it the other night when he reconnected it to the wired connection ( the type that runs through the mains) and all seemed ok until it slowed down again later on that night.
As you, may guess I am no computer guru but can anyone shed any light on what it may be.
I have not had the pc long, it is of a reasonably high spec...quad core and all that, I run windows 7, and is still covered by a 3 year warranty.
It was recently struggling to install windows updates and would spend about 10 minutes attempting the updates until they were installed manually at the second attempt.
Awaits being told it could be any one of hundreds of causes
