Hi,

Does anyone know if you can plug an ipad directly into a dslr (with camera adapter kit) and control it?

Only way i know is via a pc which is fine inside but i would like to try this out and about.

i have a device that is for data transfer.... i got it ages ago when i was using a compact camera and it worked well- although it was rather slow... apparently it could have controlled the camera if i had purchased the correct application on itunes

havent tried it as yet on my 650d/1000d yet but can forsee it being painfully slower if indeed it works at all
 
Hi

It is my understanding that the iPad Camera kit is only to allow the transfer or copy of images from the Camera/memory Card to the iPad, well that's the way the one I have works.

If you can find an app to do it then it might well work, but the Apple kit is very expensive if you end up with something that only transfers images, I went with one of the Chinese options that was only £5
 
Check out DSLR Remote on the app store, no matter what you use, the camera will have to be tethered unless you have a wifi connector kit on the camera.

I have a Sony A700 and tether it via a laptop using ialpha when inside. Just thought it was weird that there is not an ipad app you can plug your camera straight into and change settings, live view and shutter release. Could be useful?

You can do shutter release, not sure with Sony. 2 secs

Yeah, to be honest I'd buy a Nexus 7 and use DSLR Controller rather than paying out for that thing :)
