Hi all,

I have a question about iphoto if anyone can help...

Basically when I make any changes to a photo in elements 8 eg cropping or any other editing, when I save the work, in the thumbnails in iphoto you can not see what changes have been made. What you see is the image before changes were made. I have to actually click in to the photo to see the edited version. Surely I should be able to see the changes in the thumbnails too as I have changed the image.

Is it just me, and there is some preference I have not set or is it just a Mac thing that I will have to live with??

Any help gratefully received. :)

Brad

Hmm thumbnails are usually generated and I am not sure when they refresh in iphoto.

You may have to reimport once you have edited them?

Can thoroughly recommend Lightroom for jobs and issues like this.

iPhoto has a slightly strange library setup involving "Modified" and "Original" folder structures.

I only import finished photos into iPhoto rather than editing from there. However, how are you calling photos into Elements? Have you set your preferences that double clicking launches an external editor?

I have been dragging them in to elements from iphoto. Just set up the preference you described Deckard and have had no joy. Where do you download to from your camera?

Have just discovered a very cackhanded way around this. Im going to have to copy all the photos from iphoto to a folder on the desktop and then re import them, this then refreshes the thumbnails.

Cheers for your quick responses guys, much appreciated. Looks like its a Mac thing then!

I import my images using Canon's software which simply downloads them into a folder structure by shooting date in my Pictures folder on my HD.

I then edit my Raws using Digital Photo Professional or Adobe Camera Raw before any tweaks in Elements. The finished Jpegs at this point are then imported into iPhoto and my Raw files are backed up to hard drive and DVD.
