No
Having installed this software ( irfanview) I find it has added itself to all my photographs.

I only have a small quantity on the laptop. (windows 7)

If I open a folder all the files show 'open with irfanview'

Is this a problem and should I worry about it?

The reason I ask is if I install the software on my PC that contains 1000's of photographs and they open with Photoshop software at the moment. Will there be any problems with conflicting software?

I assume others use the two pieces of software successfully together.

It's associated itself with opening files of certain types but this won't affect other programs being able to open them. I have it set as my default program for opening images and to open them with Photoshop I right click and select edit.

Thank you Darren.

OK so far.

The PC assumes when I open files for edit at the moment it uses Windows Live.

I use Photoshop 8 on the PC and keep a gallery on there.

Windows Live is handy for the odd slideshow now and then. (I may have to uninstall it if things get complicated).

I just find Irfanview is needed for a quick resize to upload on here.

I find irfanview is very handy as a quick jpeg viewer and associate it with the .jpg file extension.
I have not used it to edit a file as I would never have cause to edit a jpeg as I edit from the NEF via Capture NX2 or Lightroom

I have to admit that I use Irfanview mainly for fast cropping/editing of screenshots and as a quick and convenient viewer/converter - never use it for my photography. When I installed it, I made sure that no file type was associated with it.

When I installed it, I made sure that no file type was associated with it.

That is probably the answer I was seeking. I only allowed jpeg and PSD

I will clear the list and see how it goes. I will install on the PC without defining any file types during the install.

Thanks all for info provided:)
