When I use my 100mm f2.8L with my flash (jessops) I can't get the shutter speed to go past 1/200
is this an issue?

1/200 is probably as fast a shutter speed as you can get when you have a flash attached.

I can go faster with some of my other lenses.

Nothing to do with the lens, its the flash sync speed. if you want to use higher shutter speeds set the flash to highspeed syn if it has the option.

I don't think it does have the option. It's not the best flash going. Only cost £80.

I've had this problem when using fill flash in strong sunlight with a large aperture. I wanted enough light on my subject without blowing out the sky. Shutter speed at f1.4 was ~1/4000, way too fast for my flash sync.

I agree it does seem a little odd that it is specific to the one lens.
