Hello all i have been offered an as new 18 months old canon 40d from a retired pro with 5895 actuations, 18-55 lens, 4gig card and a bag it also comes with box et etc for £400???? he seems a very nice chap and is local to me cheers for your help

Seems like a very good deal indeed. I just picked up a year old 40D body without a lens, for £420 and I thought that was a good deal!

oh i forgot 2 extra batteries as well. and a bit simple tuition when i get there. cant get much better so it looks like youve helped me make my mind up cheers:D

Whoa, you got the bargain of the year with that deal Shazza. Now my deal doesn't seem so good...........although mine does come with a years warranty left and only 4500 actuations.

I know I was very lucky! I was tipped off by the person that runs our local Flickr group as he knew the person selling.

I was unsure as it was a big step at that time going from my little Canon Ixus 80 and thought if I didn't get on with the 40d it was a lot of money spent. Met the bloke selling it in Costa and he was so nice, I brought it there and then. I figured that even if I didn't get on with it I could've sold it back on easily enough anyway.

As I say I took a risk and I'm glad I did as I probably would still be using my Ixus 80 as my main camera now otherwise!

seems a great deal to me, i just bought a 40D from a girl at work with less than 3000 actuations on it, 17-85IS lens, 2 batteries, grip, shutter release, and a Slik 700 tripod for £700 and I thought id done well lol!

having read the deals you lot got im feeling a little cheated lol

Geez some people have had some right good deals, but mosa you gotta snap his hand off at that price, i brought my mint 40d with 2100 clicks and a mint 17-85 IS for £550..............
