Hi everyone, need some guidence on this one.
Three months ago, I bought a Lumix TZ8 from an independant seller. I was - and still am - happy with the image quality and impressed with what it can do.
Except for one thing . . .
There are now rather nasty looking scratches on the lens, which I think may have been caused by it's protective lens cap - the one that opens when the zoom lens are extended and closes shut when it is retracted and it does appear to be rubbing against the lens. As a result, every sunny shots taken with the camera are now covered with blemishes, white spots and excess lens flare.
If you ask me, that does seem to be a bit of a design fault and doesn't really come across as something that is fit for purpose. I want to stress that it isn't the seller's fault, but at the same time I am careful with my stuff.
Where do I stand on repairs or even a replacement? (I'd still like the Lumix as I'm impressed with what it can do). I still have the box it came in but am unable to find the reciept (but have a bank statement showing the payment made using a visa card).
So, is there anything I need to do or know before I end up feeling like a wally if I go ahead with taking any kind of action?
Even if I don't have a leg to stand on, perhaps this post might serve as a warning for those who are toying about with the idea of buying the TZ8.
Without me sounding like Mr Angry of Tonbridge Wells, it is a great little compact laden full of features - except for that protective cap issue! Has anyone in here had that trouble? Is it a known issue?
Any response to this thread would be most appreciated.
PS: If this post has a defamatory effect on Panasonic, then please delete it and I'll leave it at that.
