has anyonegot this flashgun? is it anygood?

i've borrowed a yinyan one but it doesn't talk to the camera (500d) where as this one does. plus the mount isn't very good (the threads keep jumping which makes the flash loos/wobble)

I have this flash gun and yes it does work wel, l for the money you cannot go wrong.
I have very limited experience with flashes but this does work for me

cool, thats great news, might just have to get one then!

how quick can you use it? with the yinyan thing i have just now i seem to have to wait an age for it to charge the flash each time, even with new battery's.
 
I also have one and like it, don't do a lot of flash but this suits me for when I do. You get to know it well and know how to get the best results out of it as quick as possible

edit: to your next question I'm able to fire off a fair amount of shots before I miss a shot. Not sure how others cope

can you take more ythan one shot at a time? i litterally get one shot, wait probably 20secs, then another shot and so on, so moss loads of shots with the yinyan

I have said flash gun & use >2000mAh rechargeable batteries, that will give you a quick re-charge time.

so dare i ask, why doesn't eveyone go for this instead of the canon, what does it do better?
 
I've been looking at this one for a week or so now, and after hearing all these positive comments, I may just go for it!

Well the Canon will perform better but the Jessops flash suits most anyway. I use mine for professional use such as portraits and weddings and it hasn't let me down, I'll only buy the OEM versions when I can afford it but for now these flashes are brilliant.
 
think they are great to learn how to use a proper flash before then investing in the better flashes out there
 
for the money you cannot go wrong. They also have a optical slave function that seems to work pretty well as well. I have one of these and have no problems with it at all, just make sure that you have decent batteries and you will not go wrong.

The other alternative if you want some thing slightly more powerful is the Nissin DI662 (Guide No. 44) and is about £99
 
These are OK for the money and do a job. A slower recycling time, and a bit more fiddly to use than a Canon. Feel of lack of quality also when compared to say a 580 EX, but for the price, a good start imho.
