Won a brand new Sony a700 on ebay for £496 (is this a good price?).I have a Sony a200 and just wondering if anyone thinks it's worth keeping it or do you think i will be on the a700 all the time?I don't use the camera for any business so don't really need it as a back-up camera or owt.

There are other a700 users here ;). Good price that you paid and I don't think you will be using the a200 much any more.

Keep the A200 if you want to shoot below ISO200 as it has better IQ than the A700. If you get a nice day tomorrow, shoot both one after the other, and you'll see what I mean..

A700 is better from ISO800+ by a fair way.

I have an A700 but I barely use it, as my A900 sees 99% of the action.

But the A700 one of the best APS-C bodies around, and tremendous value. If you got it with the 18-70 kit lens, ditch the 18-70 and get the 18-55 instead.

Cheers for the info Puddleduck.I will give it a try as soon as i recieve the a700.I can only dream of owning an a900:bonk:maybe one day..maybe.

I have an A700, plus the A100 which I believe has the same sensor as the A200. At base iso I cannot see any significant difference in image sharpness or detail from either camera although the colour balance is different with the A100 colours being cooler. The A700 is however a much more responsive camera, has superb handling and excellent screen and viewfinder.

One thing you should do is check the firmware release by turning the camera on, pressing 'menu' followed by the 'display' button. If it is earlier than version 4 then go to the Sony website and download and install this version. The upgrade will add extra EV correction range, allow you to turn off noise reduction when shooting raw, and significantly improve high iso noise.
