I've been building a new online shop and have just finsished it. Anybody care to take a look and give me some feedback please?

looking good, but the background annoys me too much :|
 
neither, go with a soft colour that doesn't distract from the main page. Try various soft colours and see which you prefer.

Was Zencart used?
 
Yeah it's a zen cart template.

Fairly standard as well I'd say - Sorry.

I'd remove all of the following:

Who's Online Box
IP address in Footer
Zen cart link in footer & right links box
Category counts (an extra query on the database that you probably don't need)

I'd add:

Slimbox / Shadowbox for the image popups, looks so much better
a plain background, as mentioned. I'd go with white, personally :)

No need to be sorry, that's why I asked for feedback :)

I need to keep the Zen cart link in the footer for now while the site is on their showcase and the links box is something I wanted to put in as it saves me time when I want to go to those sites lol.

All the other stuff I will try out :)

sorry i think it is too much going on!
also you domain name is a bad choice.
a .com would be far better as it would acheive you higher ratings if you SEO properly....and people would also trust the site a little better.

I am making some changes to improve things a bit.

I will start on the SEO next.

I did have .com a few years back and will probably get it back soon.

Just had a meeting with my SEO guru last week about our new site. He said "let's not use that .info, it's not that good for SEO. We'll look at a new .co.uk/.com pair....... Although .info is not as bad as .biz (much laughter)"

Sorry - but I think you may have to lose the .biz.

How ironic is that?!? :lol:

I will get back my old .com and maybe get the co.uk as well :)
 
Looks pretty standard Zen cart to me. :)

I was always under the impression the correct url for a UK company was .co.uk.

You may also want to check your contact details, I was told once that an online shop should have address details listed - not sure how much truth is in that, maybe worth checking though. ;)

I like Zen Cart, so much more simple to use than OSCommerce!

yep - you should check the distance selling regs about this.

Thanks Guys, I thought I had put the address in when I set up the shop!?! I will set it right in a bit. :)

I have cleaned things up a bit and installed the slimbox addon.

Nice mod, works good and looks a lot nicer I agree

Hi Richard,

It's because I have worked them out on a percentage margin of the cost of materials and printing.

I did think about rounding up/down but then thought nah, I'll just leave them as is. It wouldn't take much to change them though so I might do it at a later date.

On some of the products you've got options enabled, but only one option to choose from... Why not just have it in the product description?

Personally I'd also remove the write review button, but that's just me.

I must say I like your website :thumbs:

It provides all the information of the front page that instills confidence in a reliable service. Detail such as payment method, location of business, contact number, and returns.

Personally I don't care if its built with Zen Cart, its functional and works for me.

I don't like calling mobile numbers lol

I have implemented the suggested changes and think it works well.

Never think you are picking on me, unless you are! :lol: I value the feedback and suggestions from others.

Hi Levi,

Thanks for the feedback. I have listed a mobile for now as people can get me no matter where I am. I was thinking about sorting out a divert system for the landline but I think I would have to pay for the call when it gets diverted.

Got a question for you..... are you the Levi that worked as an IT technician at one of the schools near Stanley? :)

Woohoo! got my first job straight off the back of the new site today :)

Nothing too much, just a passport sitting, but it's a start and means the site is getting visitors :)
