Yes
Just got a Dell 2209WA

Running it through a vga cable to my laptop and the colours seem way different.

For instance this forum looks more puple than blue. The l in 'talk l photography' is bright purple. and the yellow folders in pictures look way different (not in a good way)

I have to have the sharpness up to 80-90 because anything below this makes letters look blurred.

I have a new pc arriving next week so i will be able to use a dvi cable, but will there be a big difference compared to vga?

It defiantly needs calibrating,

what is the best to buy for £50-£100?

I have two of these and I used Canon Bobs Spider to calibrate them, thanks Bob!

To be honest they weren't that far out!

It could be the graphics card.

i think that may be the case, its a geforce GO 7300

Just out of interest what settings do you use?

I now have a new computer and the colours are better, but colours still look very different.

After thinking about it i think it may be the laptop screen at fault? and that I've just got used to that.

For instance, ebay looks really yellow where as on my laptop the banners are more orange/yellow.

The talk l photography is still purple (lighter, not as dark as i have shown) im pretty sure its supposed to be like that now?

What colour does it look like for you?

I run it with a dvi cable and the sharpness is great at 40, so that sorted the blurring out.

i use 16 brightness & 65 contrast, but i think i will get it calibrated to be sure

this is how it looks for me

Thanks, but it is still going to show the same for me.

Looks purple on the dell blue on the laptop :D

I have just calibrated the screen now and it looks great :D

Reset everything to default (contrast/brightness 75) and let the spider do all the work.

Gamma 2.21 (Target 2.2)
white Point 0.312 0.330 (Target 0.313 0.329)

Not sure what it did, but colours now look spot on.

Oh and the l should be purple
