If anyone has any pointers for me?

Basically, I want to do a fun shoot with 5 or so models (friends, who I'll be roping in) just to widen my photography hoizons, I want to do a relaxed outdoor shoot, possibly beach or similar and need some pointers, as never done posed/semi-posed portraits before really!

Thanks in advance

People seem to love sunlight for taking shots outdoors but it makes for horrible shadows so if possible try and do it on an overcast day, it's much easier to get better results.

Try and use large apertures to isolate your subject from the background.

Playgrounds are excellent places to do some fun outdoor photography. There are loads of opportunities for creativity with the bright colours and movement of people on slides and roundabouts. One thing I love doing is sitting on a roundabout and taking a shot of someone else on the roundabout while it's spinning using a slow shutter speed, it means the subject freezes but the background goes all blurry.

That's all I can think of for now.

Cool! that sounds awesome funs, I'll have to do a half day at it methinks!

That's wicked advice, I have 2 couples, and a set of twins inside those 2 couples (if that makes sense) and a couple of singlies! xx

so fun shots sound brilliant!

Some tips on shooting in natural light here - seems to have a lot to do with sunlight, so it may not really be applicable to the UK

That should really be the theme of the shoot, people shots look so much nicer when they are having fun and whirring round on a roundabout or see sawing like a maniac makes people smile without even realising it.

If you have a longer lens it's even worth sitting well back and just snapping away while the rest have some fun for a time.

Twins on swings could also be very interesting.

Sorry mate, I didn't see your post, as we posted exactly the same time....freakayy!!

but yes, I think you may be right! They're not identical twins though! but have a different style to each other, so it could well be interesting!

I'm not sure when this shoot is going to happen, probably a Saturday some time int he next month or two! xx

Cheers for all the advice so far!!
