Hello All

Could you please give me some advice, this is on ebay for £7.99 free P&P just wondering if this UV filter is ok to go on my 24 - 70f2.8 i want something durable but looking at other UV filters they tend to be £30 odd

Would this be ample?

Thanks

Wouldn't bother with Kenko's UV filters if I were you, look for the CameraKing seller on Amazon. I've bought the Hoya Pro1 UV filer from them for ~£30 not long ago and it's great. No loss of sharpness or contrast and at a brilliant price :)

How much did you pay for the 24-70 2.8?
If you paid £150 then get a £7.99 filter, if not then budget at least 5% of the cost of the lens to make sure you do not lose the quality you paid for!

personally wouldn't bother with a UV filter  store the lens with the lens cap fitted and fitt a hood for protection when in-use

aaaarg not again type post heheheh....

with that quality of lens why add anything..?

use "el cheapo" UV to protect the glass while off the camera + lens cap
in use, remove UV and add a hood

if you go circular PL ...read "this"
and then buy a Marumi Super DHG C PL from "here"

ps must type faster.........................

Thanks all

Order a hoya not the pro 1 but ordered it, only need a cheap one to protect from damage to the glass on lens, one hell of a repair bill otherwise

No. IF you're going to use a protection or UV filter, make it a good one. I suspect many who have had bad experiences with filters and are thus in the 'under no circumstances use them' camp have used cheap filters in the past which has coloured thier judgement.
I've always used Nikon or Hoya since about 1979 and now use Nikon or Hoya-Pro...

Nothing wrong with Kenko, got one of their CPL and its fine

They are part of the THK group which is Tokina, Hoya and Kenko

Just make sure the writing on the box is Japanese, the fakes tend to be in Chinese, easy to tell they do look a lot different
