A few weeks ago one of my computers suddenly played up.
It started as normal but once windows was up and running it all froze.
Took me a few starts to notice the bleep and the warning on the startup screen which said "Keyboard not recognised" or something like that.
I use a PS2 connection for the keyboard and mouse but changing to USB keyboard still produced the same warning.
I couldn't get into the BIOS because the "Keyboard not recognised" and couldn't get another MB because its too old.
So it looked like a case of scrap it until I came across a PCI card which allowed you to operate a second KB on a computer.
They were fairly expensive if bought from Amazon but I got one on Ebay for £10.00.
I plugged it in but again up came "Keyboard not recognised" BUT when Windows was up and running it sudenly went through a series of installations and suddenly I have a working PC again with KB and mouse back in business.
I still can't access the BIOS because the KB only works from within Windows but it saved my PC from the scrapyard for a while at least.
