Anyone know the territory range of Kingfishers...

Trying to narrow down the photographic search area! I've seen two recently on my pram pushing walks!

One flew past looking when I was looking down a weir and trying to work out a potential search area...

Not sure where this best sat as a question, but I'll pop it in here for now.

Cheers,
Neil

Anything up to 5km as individuals apparently, which can be doubled up when they pair up in Spring :)

And if you want to know more about them, read Kingfishers: Tales From The Halcyon River. Fascinating read IMHO

It also shows their behaviour traits when contesting territory. I've learnt a lot more about them after reading this book...

:plusone: They did an episode of the Natural World which was entitled the same, a beautiful hour of telly! Worth a watch if you can track a copy down :)
